Swiss Cabaret Archive (2024-2026)

The Swiss Cabaret Archive moves from Thun to Bern, from the home of its founder and tireless administrator Hansueli von Allmen to the SAPA Foundation, Swiss Archive of the Performing Arts, at Bern railroad station.
The Cabaret Archive has been documenting the rich and varied events on Swiss cabaret stages for over fifty years. Hansueli von Allmen has nurtured and cared for it since 1972, providing Swiss cabaret with an immeasurable fund of memories. In addition to countless documents about Swiss cabaret - media reviews, posters, program booklets, flyers, texts, props, publications and much more - von Allmen's archive also contains more than 2,000 books and 5,000 sound recordings: single and long-playing records, cassettes and CDs, plus 800 videos and DVDs.
The audio carriers go to the Swiss National Sound Archives in Lugano. This is part of the Swiss National Library (NL), which in turn is an institution of the Federal Office of Culture (FOC). The Swiss National Sound Archives collects, preserves and communicates Switzerland's audio heritage, thereby contributing to the country's cultural diversity and identity. The inexhaustible treasures of small art that Hansueli von Allmen has collected over half a century will therefore be accessible in Bern and Lugano in the future.
