The preservation of Swiss cultural heritage in the performing arts

The Digital Archive project includes the acquisition of digital ingest software for processing digital archive material and the connection to an external cloud infrastructure for long-term data storage.

The new infrastructure enables SAPA to continue fulfilling its mission as an archive and competence center and to make a significant and future-oriented contribution to preserving the cultural heritage of the performing arts in the digital age. As SAPA focuses on folk culture and maintains a documentation of folk theater stages that is unique in Europe, the project primarily contributes to the exchange between artists, cultural mediators and the public. The project thus benefits various user groups such as cultural actors, archive users and other archive institutions.

This project was made possible by the generous support of:

Loterie Romande, Canton of Berne, Canton of Zurich, City of Zurich, Boner Foundation for Art and Culture, Emil and Rosa Richterich-Beck Foundation, Georg and Bertha Schwyzer-Winiker Foundation
