Jean Pierre Pastori is a multifaceted personality who is passionate about promoting and documenting the art of dance. After graduating in political science from the University of Lausanne (1971), he obtained a certificate from the Centre Romand de Formation des Journalistes in 1973 and a certificate in entrepreneurship from the University of Geneva in 2005.

He began his professional career as a journalist for print media, radio and television in French-speaking Switzerland, where he worked from 1971 to 1995. From 1995 to 1999, he was manager of the Sinfonietta de Lausanne orchestra, before taking over the management of Télévision de la région lausannoise from 1999 to 2007.

Jean Pierre Pastori was also involved as project manager for the national festival 700 Years of the Swiss Confederation - Festival of the Four Cultures (1989-1991) and was President of the Béjart Ballet Lausanne from 2012 to 2017. His role as founder and president of the Swiss Dance Collection, which he headed from 1993 to 2010, was particularly influential. He was also President of the Association Châteaux Vaudois (2008-2014), the Communauté Télévisuelle Romande (2005-2007) and the Cercle Lausannois de la Presse (2005-2008).

In addition to his organizational and journalistic activities, Jean Pierre Pastori is a prolific author. He has published around 25 monographs and biographies in the context of dance history, including the 1977 work Der Tanz der Lebendigen and the 2017 biography Maurice Béjart - L'univers d'un chorégraphe. His publications are an important contribution to the documentation and reflection of dance history.
