Deroc received his first classical lessons from Mario Volkart and continued his training in Paris at Studio Wacker with Olga Preobrajenska. He was a soloist at the Comédie-Francaise in Paris and 1er danseur at the Opéra National de Lyon.
He worked as a choreographer at the Stadttheater St. Gallen, the Stadttheater Lucerne and the Graz Opera House. After his return to Switzerland in 1964, he founded the Swiss Chamber Ballet and established the Königsfeld Festival in 1973. From the 1980s onwards, Deroc devoted himself increasingly to teaching dance in its many forms.
