Deroc Jean

Jean Deroc received his first classical training in Zurich with Mario Volkart and continued his education in Paris at Studio Wacker with Olga Preobrajenska. He was a soloist at the Comédie-Française in Paris and a 1er danseur at the Opéra National de Lyon. As a choreographer, he worked at the Theater St. Gallen, the Lucerne Theatre, and the Graz Opera. Following his return to Switzerland in 1964, he founded the Swiss Chamber Ballet and established the Königsfeld Festival in 1973. From the 1980s onwards, Deroc increasingly dedicated himself to promoting dance in its diverse forms and actively campaigned for dance in Swiss cultural policy.
