Bosshard Monique

Monique Bosshard grew up in Morges and studied rhythmics at the Jacques-Dalcroze Institute in Geneva. In 1962, she completed her master's degree and subsequently continued her education at the Rousseau Institute. Driven by her fascination with dance, she enrolled in 1963 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she attended courses by Rosalia Chladek. Inspired by the work of this pioneer of modern dance, she returned to Lausanne and, in 1968, founded the 'Atelier-expression-danse' there, which was dedicated to exploring the body, creativity, and movement in the interplay of space and time. In 1977, she presented the piece Lien mobile at the first International Choreography Competition in Nyon, where it was selected by the jury.
She collaborated with the médico-pédagogique institute and completed further training in dance in 1992 with the ethno-psychoanalyst France Schott-Billmann. As a dancer and educator, she gave countless lectures, interviews, demonstrations, and courses for early childhood education professionals, teachers, and the general public in the canton of Vaud. The aim of her work was to raise awareness of the importance of physical expression. Her work regularly resonated in the media, particularly with RTS, for which she conceived a series of twelve broadcasts in 1977 titled Parler avec son corps. In these, she conveyed her insights into the relationship between parents and children through movement, touch, and listening.
Furthermore, she was actively involved on the board of the Swiss Association of Dance and Gymnastics Professionals (STBG) and co-founded the association Musique traditionnelle, danse et théâtre (Amdathra).
