Aenne Goldschmidt completed her professional training at the Emmy Sauerbeck School of Dance Gymnastics. Her artistic career began in expressive dance, where she worked freelance with Roger Georg before turning to German folklore.

As the author of the Handbook of German Folk Dance, she dedicated herself to the scientific research, dissemination and further development of German folk dance, including artistic stage design. With works such as the Winzertanz and her masterpiece Die Bauern sind einig geworden, which she rehearsed with the folklore dance ensemble Thea Maass of the TU Dresden, she became one of the most important choreographers and academics in the field of German folklore for the stage.
