Information and Documentation Specialist

The SAPA Foundation (Swiss Archive of the Performing Arts) preserves, makes accessible, and disseminates the cultural heritage of the performing arts in Switzerland, thereby creating essential foundations for its research. As a national memory institution, SAPA collects archival holdings from practitioners such as directors, set designers, and choreographers, covering various disciplines from spoken theatre to dance and stage art.
In addition to archiving, SAPA operates a centre of expertise that provides access to reliable information and documentation sources for both professionals and the general public.
Duties
In consultation with the division management, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Processing of mixed archival holdings of various provenances
- Cataloguing, especially of audiovisual media, in the archive databases
- Entry and maintenance of information on the performing arts in the «Swiss Performing Arts Platform SPAP»
- Processing inquiries
- Participation in events and other outreach activities
- Administrative tasks
Job Profile
You hold a degree as an Information and Documentation specialist or an equivalent qualification, along with initial professional experience, ideally in the field of artistic archives. You understand the specific requirements for archiving mixed collections and are familiar with various video and audio formats. You are proficient in using archive databases and are interested in learning new systems.
You enjoy working independently on both recurring and specific, project-related tasks. In addition to your expertise and organizational skills, you are proficient in French and have a good command of English.
As a communicative individual with an affinity for theatre, you value working in a small, interdisciplinary team that offers mutual support and collaborates closely across SAPA’s three locations.
