Armin Wild received his training at Herta Bamert's ballet academy and deepened his skills through Russian training with Frédéric Stebler. In 1960, he continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Dancing in London. His career as a dancer began in 1964/65 at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden before he was engaged at the Zurich Opera House from 1965 to 1967. There he danced in Nicholas Beriozoff's classical productions, including solo roles in Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake and the title role in Don Quixote.

From 1967 to 1969, Armin Wild was first solo dancer at the Landestheater Salzburg. In 1970, he opened his own ballet school in Zurich and remained active as a dancer, including with Jean Deroc's Swiss Chamber Ballet. Between 1972 and 1974, he was once again active as a ballet master and choreographer at the Landestheater Salzburg.

Together with Malou Fenaroli, he founded the private professional ballet school in Zurich, where he worked as head teacher and ballet master until 1982. His international career took him to the Philippines from 1980 to 1983, where he first worked as a choreographer and later as director of the Philippines Dance Company in Manila. From 1988 to 1990, he directed Yella Colombo's Zurich Dance Theater group.

Armin Wild has created choreographies for the Swiss Chamber Ballet, the Zurich Opera House as well as for stages in Leipzig, Berlin, Hong Kong and various television productions. After his active stage career, he worked as a freelance teacher and choreographer. From 1990 to 1998 he was President of the Swiss Professional Association for Dance Pedagogy (SBLV) and from 1984 to 1986 Vice President of the Swiss Dance Theater (SDT). He was also a member of the jury for the Migros ballet scholarships, thereby shaping the promotion of young talent in Switzerland.
