Vidach Ariella

Ariella Vidach lives and works in Lugano and Milan. Vidach was initially active in the theatre in Milan before joining a contact improvisation group at the Teatro Altro in Rome in 1978. In 1979, she attended an intensive course with Trisha Brown in France and moved to New York the following year to pursue her artistic training and work over the next nine years. She took classes and workshops in ballet, Cunningham technique, and Limón technique. She received her training in contact improvisation, while still in New York, from Steve Paxton and Nancy Stark Smith. In the USA, she worked as a dancer for the Nina Martin Dance Company (1980–84), Robin Feld (1981), Fred Holland (1983), and the Julie West Dance Foundation (1983–85). She has been producing her own choreography since 1982, and from 1988 onwards in Switzerland with the group Avventure in Elicottero Prodotti (AiEP), which she founded together with Claudio Prati.
In 1990, Vidach returned to Milan and founded the Compagnia Ariella Vidach-AiEP in 1996. In Milan, she continued to teach contact improvisation and became director of the Professional Training Academy for the Contemporary Dancer at the Arcobaleno Danza school. The work of Compagnia Ariella Vidach-AiEP is always carried out in collaboration with AiEP in Lugano.
