Meier Yolanda

Yolanda Meier received her first dance training in her hometown at the ballet school of the Theater Basel. She completed her professional training at the Academy of Artistic Dance in Vienna. Further training followed at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, the American Ballet Theatre School, and the Robert Joffrey Ballet School. As a dancer, she performed in London and Paris, and from 1973 she spent four years as a permanent member of Pina Bausch’s Wuppertaler Tanztheater.

Following her return to Switzerland, Meier choreographed for the Basel Theater ballet and Jean Deroc's chamber ballet, among others. She also founded her own company in Zurich, the Yolanda Meier Tanztheater. She taught in France and Switzerland, and has lived in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, since 1994.
