Esther Maria Häusler received her dance training at the Vocational School for Dance and Gymnastics in Zurich with Ulla Kasics and at the Martha Graham School in New York. Since 1982 she has devoted herself intensively to contemporary dance, improvisation and composition and has developed numerous individual performances in which she has also danced herself.
In 1993, she founded the Swiss Performance Company, for which she choreographed various group pieces inspired by Japanese Butoh. She was also a co-founder of the Seefeld Dance Project.
Prof. Esther Maria Häusler taught at the Department of Performing Arts and Film at the Zurich University of the Arts from 1995.
