Eva Fuhrer lives and works in Bern. During her training from 1968 to 1973 at the Grande École de Danse in Bern, studying under teachers including Frédéric Stebler and Vladimir Brosko, she danced a role in the ballet ensemble of the Bern City Theatre in 1972. She subsequently taught at dance schools in Bern, Langenthal, and Moutier (1974–1978) before ultimately joining the theatre collective Studio am Montag—consisting of Norbert Klassen, Janet Haufler, Brigitte Bissegger, and Rudolf Bobber—as its sole dancer. She remained part of the collective until 1983 and continued to participate in individual experimental theatre projects and performances with the group, later renamed STOP.P.T. From 1984 onwards, she worked as a freelance actress, dancer, and performer under her maiden name, Fuhrer (having previously performed as Eva Schär). Her duo and solo works, including Zwielicht (1984, with Brigitte Bissegger), In der einzigen Dauer (1990), Vorübergehen (1995), Zeitgleich (2007), and Vexations (2009), are characterised by simple movements of the body in space and time.

She is active in the Panch performance network and performs at performance festivals. From 1989 to 1992, she directed and worked as an assistant director for productions by Theater Chindlifrässer in Bern. From 1991 onwards, she ran her own dance studio in Bern, and until her retirement, she worked as a technician at the Theater an der Effingerstrasse in Bern. Fuhrer was a member of the municipal commission for theatre and dance and served on the board of directors of the Dampfzentrale in Bern.
