Liliane Hodel

In summer 2021, the SAPA Foundation acquired two important collections that testify to the history of theatre in Romandy. One of these is the estate of Liliane Hodel, who in July transferred to the Foundation the archives of Théâtre a and of her subsequent Compagnie Liliane Hodel.
Liliane Hodel is a Swiss actor and director. She trained at Jacques Gardel's Atelier de Travail Théâtral in Lausanne and, in 1986, together with Dominique Meyer and Philippe Jeanloz, founded Théâtre a - one of Lausanne’s first independent theatre companies. She appeared in around ten productions and, among other projects, directed Jean Genet’s L'Atelier d'Alberto Giacometti in 1988. After the sudden death of Dominique Meyer in 1993, Théâtre a was dissolved, whereupon Liliane Hodel founded the Compagnie Liliane Hodel.
The collection documents the activities and productions of both companies. It includes working files, directing and set design notes, correspondence, promotional materials, press articles, photographs and audiovisual documents.
The archives can be consulted during SAPA’s opening hours in Lausanne.
