Liliane Hodel

In summer 2021, the SAPA Foundation took over two important collections that bear witness to the history of theater in French-speaking Switzerland. One of these is the estate of Liliane Hodel, who donated the archives of the Théâtre a and her subsequent Compagnie Liliane Hodel to the foundation in July.
Liliane Hodel is a Swiss actress and director. She trained at Jacques Gardel's Atelier de Travail Théâtral in Lausanne and founded the Théâtre a - one of the first independent theater companies in Lausanne - together with Dominique Meyer and Philippe Jeanloz in 1986. She took part in around ten productions, including directing L'Atelier d'Alberto Giacometti by Jean Genet in 1988. After the sudden death of Dominique Meyer in 1993, the Théâtre a was dissolved, whereupon Liliane Hodel founded the Compagnie Liliane Hodel.
The collection documents the activities and productions of both companies. It includes working documents, director's and stage design notes, correspondence, advertising material, press articles, photographs and audiovisual documents.
The archives can be consulted during the opening hours of SAPA in Lausanne.
