Leopold Biberti

Leopold Biberti (1894-1969) was not only a gifted actor whose engagements took him from Bern, Zurich and Basel to Frankfurt and Berlin, but also a passionate traveler and talented photographer. His estate, which was transferred from Hamburg to SAPA in June, contains countless private and business letters and photographs as well as documentation of the actor's trips to the USA in the late 1930s. Equipped with a camera and a film camera, he and his brother Robert Biberti, singer and founding member of the well-known Berlin vocal ensemble Comedian Harmonists, traveled by bus, train and plane from the east to the west coast of the USA.
